Workshops on the interpretation of Byzantine chant from “hermetic” music notation systems

🏛️National University of Music in Bucharest (UNMB), in partnership with the Faculty of Theology of the University of Eastern Finland (UEF), the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (ΕΚΠΑ), and REVIVART Association, is organising 20 historically informed performance workshops from 4 September to 14 October on “hermetic” musical notation systems.
📖The workshops will be held online on the ZOOM platform and will highlight pieces transcribed from the Kievan (Square) notation, the alphabetical system of Petros Ephesios, and the notation of Georgios Lesbios.
🎓The participants will have the opportunity to work with prestigious professors, such as Archdeacon Associate Professor PhD Gabriel Constantin OPREA (UNMB), Assistant Professor PhD Maria TAKALA-ROSZCZENKO (UEF) and PhD Researcher Cătălin CERNĂTESCU (UNMB).
🚩During the 20 workshops, participants will study interesting theoretical and practical issues related to alternative notation systems. Booking a place to attend the workshops can be done by scanning the QR code.
